Change II

Janzajma poetry change

The second part of a three-part story of change. ‘Change II’ is about having broken up and doubting whether it’s the right decision. Trying to convince yourself that it is and that you should never go back to what didn’t work. However, this idea is not entirely without doubt.

Leaves

Janzajma poetry break-up

Forest and plants is a recurring theme in many of my poems. The idea is that everything forms life and that there’s energy in everything. Some things, however, go bad and rotten. Bad relationships for example. ‘Leaves’ is a poem about noticing and trying different things to learn to know yourself and not put yourself in the same situation. Sometimes, leaves can barely hold onto a tree and other times they can survive through a storm.

Cactus

Janzajma poetry abstract

‘Cactus’ is a theme I’ve touched in songs for many years. The idea of being a cactus is based on being all alone in the middle of nowhere with pointy ends pushing anything that comes close away. In ‘Cactus’, flowers get close to the cactus and are not afraid of getting close to it. This creates huge confusion, the cactus not needing much water, which sparks the latter idea that rice does not need water if someone can get close to the cactus. Anything is possible.

Hiding

Janzajma poetry happiness

‘Hiding’ is about our exterior not fitting with our inner-selves. In the past I’ve struggled with being happy and energetic all the time out in public and then being all out worn out. The struggle is to find a balance and communicate with the close ones around you and take the time to manage your mental well-being.
